Download FreePBX Distro The easiest way to install FreePBX is to download and install the FreePBX Distro. Take control of your day with Postbox’s clean and super-customizable. It can handle multiple email accounts and allows you to subscribe to RSS feeds in order to read the latest news. Postbox is a powerful application that aims to provide you with all the tools for keeping in touch with your friends and business partners. Instead I will keep them offline on my own systems.Postbox 6.1.16.1. In this case I cannot follow you advice however, as I do not wish any provider, including Fastmail, to have my old mail on their servers. I am looking for a day-to-day replacement for my Gmail service and will certainly give Fastmail a look. I was always curious what kind of workflow would give this beast of a computer a pause, but frankly did not expect it to be an e-mail export - many thanks for the Fastmail endorsement. I will now try and find out what kind of export complexity Mail can handle and will then slice and dice my export into as many batches it takes to avoid overburdening the system. Nevertheless, your solution appears to work in principle. Only exiting Mail and aborting the export process got things going again. The export process was using over 100s of GB of virtual memory apparently (?) causing the computer to pause all activity. ![]() In fact, the two attempts I ran managed to grind a fully maxed-out late-2013 15" MacBook Pro to a full stop (we are talking 80% of SSD empty and available and 16GB ram running, and Mail the only active program). When exporting folders "including subfolders" things go wrong. But, as you stated, "exporting" folders to offline files and then importing again into "On my Mac" in Mail does work.įor folders with no subfolders, the process works great, and is pretty fast. Dragging and dropping folders directly onto "On my Mac" does not work Using Apple Mail to sync with Gmail over IMAP predictably is no problem Once store locally in this manner, it's no longer tied to the IMAP account and can be safely deleted from the mail server, as you - I have made a first attempt yesterday night: You could then either hold it in local store via Apple Mail, or just as separate files on your computer (searchable via Spotlight). If you have thousands of messages, and a slow upload pipe, this may take a while.Īs for offline archiving, I don't know how Post Box works in this regard, but Apple Mail allows you to "export" mail and/or mail folders from the IMAP structure (whether downloaded to your computer or not) for safe keeping. Note, however, that this method relies on your computer (and your internet connection) as the intermediary. ![]() So this at least may be a solution to getting your mail, folder structure intact, from one provider to another. I then deleted them off the Google Apps account, and copied them back from the iCloud account, just to make sure everything was preserved (send/receive dates, etc.) and it was. ![]() The messages and the folder structure were preserved and copied. I was able to select both Test 1 and Test 2 and drag them to my iCloud account. I created two folders on one of my Google Apps accounts: Test1 and Test 2, then nested folders Test 1A and Test 2A inside of each. While AirMail's transfer function didn't work (it will move messages, but not folders), plain old Apple Mail did. Let me attempt to move a set of folders using AirMail and I'll report back-no sense in you paying for it (even though it's only $2) if it won't do what you ask.ĮDIT: So, good news. I agree, re-creating something that massive would be a bear. I should've asked what sort of folder structure we're dealing with here. ![]()
